Pastor Calvis and Sister Veda Brooks
Calvis Brooks, the eldest of 8 children, was born in Texas to Calvis and Idella Brooks. Being raised in a God-fearing family, he recognized the hand of God on his life at the age of 8 as he stood on the back of his grandmother’s porch looking over the fields and saw himself preaching the gospel to multitudes. At 18 years old he received the Holy Ghost while he was a member of Holy Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor L.B. Johnson. In 1970, his family became members of World Mission Church which is now New Testament Holiness Church (NTHC). He preached his first sermon in 1974 and shortly after was appointed as the young people’s leader. He became the assistant pastor in 1976 and became the pastor in 1995.
Veda Brooks, one of 6 children, was born in Louisiana to Ernest and Mathilda Roubleau Taylor. Calvis met Veda after her family moved to San Antonio. She is a licensed nurse and became a member of World Mission Church in 1973 and received the Holy Ghost in 1974. Calvis and Veda were married in 1976 and were blessed with three children: Cassandra, Trevor (Asst Pastor), and Chaun (wife Nicole), and they have been blessed with four grandchildren (Alana, Malachi, Chloe, and Andrea).
